How to create an ebook with Designrr
Designrr is one of the most popular ebook creation tools available today. It has a simple interface and allows users to quickly build an ebook from scratch.
The platform offers a wide range of features including automatic page numbering, bookmarks, tables of contents, and many others.
While it is not a free tool, but they have a lifetime deal where you get it for just $27, which is a really good deal overall.
And if you’re a blogger, I think it’s one of the easiest ways to take a blog post or multiple blog posts and turn them into an e-book.
When your logged into your Designrr dashboard you can click ‘import blog post’.
I will say it does a really good job. I wouldn’t recommend using Designrr to starting from scratch. I’ve tried that and it just hasn’t worked well for me, but turning blog posts or something you’ve written elsewhere and then using Designrr works great.
Once your content is imported it give you different options with what template to use, pick the one that looks best.
It will automatically add your title and name to the cover. If you don’t particularly like the font, you can go ahead and change the font.
And if you toggle the “make changes to all elements” you can see it changed on all pages. So, that’s really nice that it just will make it easy to update everything.
While it does a pretty good job pulling in the graphics and links, you’ll want to make sure it didn’t miss any.
Additionally, I find that I usually need to update the page footer, sometimes it’s as simple as changing the color, other times there is more to it. But with a few clicks you can have it looking the way you like and including page numbers.
You’ll also want to keep an eye on the spacing between paragraphs and page breaks to make sure they make sense, but it’s easy enough to adjust and fix.
Once you have it how you like, hit save, and then publish. Depending on the Designrr plan you have you can publish it as a PDF, or Kindle ePub, or Adobe.
But my favorite is the flipbook, because I hate making mockups, this gives me an HTML code that I can embed anywhere for people to see the eBook as a flip book.
Bascially, in less than 10 minutes, you’ve got a gorgeous looking ebook from a blog post.
You could use this ebook as an opt-in or even create an ebook to sell.
Which is pretty awesome, all things considered. Which, I mean, if you created a paid e-book and, sold it for just $5, if you you sell six, you’ve paid for Designrr.
So for what it does, I think it does really well. I don’t try to use it to create other types of ebooks or downloads, but for this aspect, it works incredibly well and I do love using it.
How to create an eBook with Apple Pages
Apple has made it super easy to create an iBook. It’s actually built right into Pages. When you create a new document, select “books” in the templates to start with the right formating.
It will give you some basic pages to start with including a:
- Title Page
- Copyright/Legal Page
- Chapter Page
- About the Author Page
To add more pages, simply select “add page” in the top left hand corner and a blank page will be inserted where your cursor is located.
Write your book and then you can export it as a PDF ePub or publish it directly to iBooks.
Why You Shouldn’t Create an eBook in Canva
While Canva is a fantastic graphic design tool, it’s less than ideal for creating an ebook.
Creating an ebook in Canva requires a lot of formatting and tedious work, which is why most designers prefer to use dedicated ebook creation tools.
Dedicated ebook creation tools make it easy to export in different formats, update tables of contents, add page numbers and more.
Additionally, Canva doesn’t have the necessary accessibility features that would allow a screen reader to see what is on the page.
If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to create an ebook, then Canva isn’t the tool for you. Either Designrr or Apple Pages are the easiest and most affordable options to create an eBook quickly.
