7 Best Business Books to Boost Your Online Business

Investing in education can be a great way to grow your business. But you don’t always have to drop hundreds of dollars on fancy courses. Books can be a great way to learn and grow your business.
In this post I’m sharing the 7 best business books to help you boost your online business. Here are the books:

1. Launch by Jeff Walker

What you’ll learn: How to launch a product online. Including how to Pre-Launch to make sure your audience is ready to buy. This book covers step by step how to have a profitable product launch. It shows you what information to provide at each stage of the launch process.

Biggest mind blown moment: Having it all pulled together in one process. I’d heard bits and pieces of what Jeff talks about before, but this book pulled it all together. It had me bursting with ideas of how to use it in my next launch.

Who it’s by: Jeff Walker who has been doing this online business thing since 1996. He has built a seven figure business using the Product Launch Formula he covers in the book.
Where to find it: You can likely find it at any book store or it is of course available on Amazon.

2. Dotcom Secrets The Underground Playbook for Growing Your Company Online with Sales Funnels By Russel Brunson

What you’ll learn: How to design your business around sales funnels that will work even when you can’t. It covers how to build a product ladder, because repeat customers are the most profitable. As well as different types of funnels, along with step by step processes.

My biggest mind blown moment: This is the book that really introduced me to sales funnels. It got me thinking about how my various products and affiliate products tie together.

Who it’s by: Russel Brunson, the creator of ClickFunnels. He knows his stuff and when you buy the book from him, you’ll get a glance into his funnel system. Yes, a lot of the book could be considered a sales pitch for ClickFunnels. BUT there is a lot of great information on funnels and strategies regardless.

Where to find it: It can be found in most bookstores, on Amazon, or you can get it from Russel for free, just pay shipping.

3. Influence The Psychology of Persuasion by Robert B. Cialdini

What you’ll learn: In short you’ll learn, why people buy. This book dives into the 6 “weapons of influence”. These help people decide whether to trust you or not, whether to buy from you or not. It’s interesting to read and see how the different tactics play out everyday around you. It’s a great book for ethical business owners. I wouldn’t want to recommend it to someone shady who would manipulate people.

My biggest mind blown moment: It’s hard to pick just one. I’d heard of most of the “weapons of influence” at one point or another through various courses – but now, I wish I’d started with this book. It not only breaks down how each tactic (ex. using scarcity) works, but also how to use it. The stories he includes to illustrate the method of influence are insanely helpful in understanding the concept.

Who it’s by: Robert B. Cialdini, PH.D. is a professor of marketing and psychology. He’s quite literally done the research and knows what works.

Where to find it: Amazon appears to be the the quickest and easiest way to get the book.

4. How to Write Copy that Sells (The Step-By-Step System for More Sales, to More Customers, More Often) by Ray Edwards

What you’ll learn: How to write so people want to buy. Copywriting is a valuable skill. Pretty much every professional copywriter I’ve seen recommends this book, and for good reason. It’s not very long but it is dense, it breaks down every building block of a successful sales page. It then goes into detail on how to write each building block. So there is a chapter on writing bullet points and another on writing your guarantee. It’s a must read for anyone trying to sell something.

My biggest mind blown moment: Learning the 15 building blocks of a sales page, was huge for me. I actually had to read sections many times because the book has so much information in it. While I’m still working at writing better sales copy, I go back to this book when I’m having trouble.

Who it’s by: Ray Edwards is a copywriter – one of the highest paid ones. His copy has helped generate over $100 million in sales. He knows what he is talking about because he has done the work.

Where to find it: I got my copy at Barnes and Nobel but it can also be found on Amazon.

5. The 12 Week Year (Get More Done in 12 Weeks Than Others Do in 12 Months) by Brian P. Morgan & Michael Lennington

What you’ll learn: How to boost your productivity. This book is great for anyone struggling to get things done. It will force you to think in long term goals, with short term results. It will also make you focus on what is most important for you to get done if you want to actually hit your goals. By the end of the book, you’ll have an execution plan, knowing what you need to get done each week for the next 12 weeks. And you’ll be surprised at the progress you make. Because while it does focus on getting more done, it’s not through sheer hustle and working yourself to death.

My biggest mind blown moment: The prioritizing gave me perspective to realize that I was spending a lot of time on tasks that didn’t do much for me. They kept me busy without moving me closer to my goals.

Who it’s by: Both Brian and Michael run The Execution Company which focuses on improving performance and quality of life for entrepreneurs.

Where to find it: 12 Week Year can be found at regular bookstores, Amazon, or directly from 12weekyear.com.

6. Do it Scared by Ruth Soukup

What you’ll learn: This book is a little more “woo woo” than others on the list. But it aims to help you face your fears, you know like that ever lurking Imposter Syndrome. The book starts out by explaining the different Fear Archetypes. You can take a quiz online to see which ones you fall into. Then the book explains how to overcome your fears based on your archetypes. As the cover says it’s part inspiration, part tough love. But what makes it a good business book is that it gives you specific actions to take, not just generic advice.

My biggest mind blown moment: My fear archetype hit the nail on the head. The book helped me deal with some underlying mindset issues I didn’t realize I had. Dealing with them has helped me move forward in my business more confidently. I’m embarrassed to admit that this book actually made me cry at one point for how on point it was.

Who it’s by: Ruth Soukup is the founder of Elite Blog Academy. She has built a seven figure business herself and has helped and coached thousand of other online entrepreneurs to build successful businesses as well.

Where to find it: Amazon is the best place, even the Do It Scared website links to the book on Amazon.

7. The War of Art (Break Through The Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles) by Steven Pressfield

What you’ll learn: How to get your work done as a creative even when you’re not feeling creative. This book is a must read for any creative entrepreneur. If you’re anything like me you will have it dog eared like crazy to refer to when you need a bit of a push. If you want to be a professional, aka make a living with your chosen area of creativity then it means working even when a muse isn’t present, this book will help.

My biggest mind blown moment: I don’t know about mind blown, but I have so many pages marked to refer to when I need a boost.

Who it’s by: Steven Pressfield is a best selling author, so he knows the struggle of needing to write even if you don’t want to.

Where to find it: The War of Art can be found at bookstores like Barnes and Noble, Black Irish Books, and Amazon.
