A Day in the Life of a Blogger

If there’s one thing that is absolutely clutch to successful blogging its consistency. Consistently promoting, consistently creating content, consistently emailing your list, the keyword is consistency. The life of a blogger depends on being consistent.

But with all there is to do as a blogger it can sometimes be hard to find the time to be consistent. So I thought I’d share with you what my day looks like and what I need to do to make sure I’m being consistent.

Average Timeline of My Day

7:00 a.m. – Lucy (my dog) gets me up to take her out, the household (dog, cat, and myself) get breakfast and I get coffee, and looking at my task list for the day start planning it out.

7:45 a.m. Get dressed (sometimes I get dressed in sweatpants, but it’s still getting dressed everyday), take Lucy out again

8:00 a.m. check email and social media for any additional to-dos

8:30 a.m. Start on my biggest to do for the day, if I’m running up against a deadline, like to get a blog post finished, then this is when I start working on it. If I’m not running against a clock I work on making progress on my big projects, like revamping my email marketing strategy, a 2018 Q1 goal of mine.

11:00 a.m. Take Lucy on her long walk, multitask on this walk by dictating blog posts, or reading a book, or listening to a podcast etc.

12:00 p.m. Lunch for the gang

1:00 p.m. If I have any calls scheduled they are usually in the afternoon, so I’ll block off this hour for a call

2:00 p.m. Daily social media promotion. Ensure recent blog posts get added to SmarterQueue, submit pins to Tailwind Tribes, create new images for posts if they aren’t getting much traction and add them to my social media promotion.

3:00 p.m. Edit content recorded on the walk with Lucy

[3:30] Take Lucy out again

3:45 p.m. Continue editing

5:00 p.m. Take Lucy out, get the mail, eat dinner

6:00 p.m. Catch up on whatever hasn’t been finished from my list for the day, keep working until it’s done (this could be catching up on pinning from tailwind tribes, drafting a newsletter, and making note of where I stopped in certain projects/tasks to make it easier to start from the next time)

9:00 p.m. Break to get ready for bed, do the dishes, and take Lucy out one last time

9:45 p.m. Keep playing catch up

11:30 p.m. Go to bed

Daily To-Do Task List

I have a one-pager overview of my week and tasks that need to be done. These include daily social media tasks, client deadlines, and hope to get done projects.

I like to start my week on a Monday and I have each day we just listed on the sheet of paper. Things have to be done every day early every day are listed first, things that have to be done once a week we are listed on the ideal day to get them done. Admittedly, the ideal day isn’t always the day they actually get done. I print out a months worth of copies.

Then for the week of I write in any client deadlines or other tasks that must be accomplished during the week.

Bottom Line

In truth every day is a little bit different when it comes to blogging. While there are certain things that need to happen every day, how it all happens and in the order varies depending on life. And there are definitely some really long days. The other day, I was up till 1:00 a.m. finishing up editing a post to publish. That being said, it was  worth it and I wouldn’t trade what I do for anything. I absolutely love what I do.
